Welcome to the Dalry Heritage Group Web Site
Dalry Heritage Group PDF Print E-mail

The aim of the Dalry Heritage Group is to create a record of life in the village from early times to the present day using as many sources as possible, for example existing archives, publications, photos, maps and by talking with local people.

Members of the Group would like to record reminiscences from and about village residents, past and present. These will be transcribed and summaries will appear later on the website.

The Group has already held exhibitions and presentations, and more are planned.

September 2009 - Celebrations Of 150 Years Of Dalry Town Hall - see the Celebrations Agenda page

The celebrations and exhibition was a great success  with record numbers of attendees both to the exhibition and the evening events. The final evening was sold out with every seat used.

All the events were very well received by the public.

Many thanks to all who lent us their photos and items for the exhibition.

This web site will be developed over time into a comprehensive record of the Group's researches - the aim is both to inform and to entertain.

The Dalry Heritage Group meets regularly to plan activities and to discuss research. If you would like to join the Group, please visit the Contact Us page and get in touch.

The Group hopes to devise a virtual village heritage trail, which will include local features such as the grand country houses and more humble tradesmen’s cottages. The trail will hopefully be marked by plaques/signs in the village too, but can be followed photographically on this website. A full colour leaflet may be published by the Group at a later date..
